Part of our remit is to raise awareness of vision loss in the community, we always enjoy going out and speaking to schools as part of our educational programme. The programme is aimed at increasing awareness, reducing stigmatisation, enhancing trust and providing general information with regards to vision loss and visual impairment. This is something that we are passionate about and supports our Mission Statement, which is “Empowering and supporting people in Hertfordshire with a visual impairment.” We try to tailor the content to support the PHSE curriculum where possible.
The sessions are free of charge and are conducted by a trained member of staff together with a visually impaired or blind person with lived experience of sight loss.
We can adapt our speaking engagements to meet your needs, also with regards to content as well as time. We like give the children, and adults, the opportunity to explore how it feels to be blind during some safe, fun activities. The programme is both interactive and entertaining and has been very well received around the County.
