Schools & Groups

Raising Awareness, Empowering Communities.

Our educational programme offers free, interactive sessions to schools and community groups, helping to reduce stigma and increase understanding of vision loss.

An Interactive Educational Programme on Vision Loss

Part of our remit is to raise awareness of vision loss in the community. We always enjoy going out and speaking to schools as part of our educational programme. The programme aims to increase awareness, reduce stigmatisation, enhance trust, and provide general information regarding vision loss and visual impairment. This is something we are passionate about and supports our Mission Statement: “Empowering and supporting people in Hertfordshire with a visual impairment.” We strive to tailor the content to support the PHSE curriculum where possible.

The sessions are free of charge and are conducted by a trained member of staff together with a visually impaired or blind person with lived experience of sight loss.

We can adapt our speaking engagements to meet your needs, both in terms of content and timing. We like to give children and adults the opportunity to explore how it feels to be blind through safe, fun activities. The programme is both interactive and entertaining, and has been very well received around the County.

Following a talk at St Michael’s CE VA Primary School in Bishop’s Stortford, we received the following much-appreciated feedback, along with a photograph of the talk which they are happy for us to share:
