Through a range of direct and indirect services Herts Vision Loss has the mission to serve the county’s estimated population of 22,000 people with severe and permanent sight loss. This number is set to rise to 32,000 by 2020, according to the Royal National Institute for the Blind.The Society has up to 6,000 consultations/contacts with visually impaired people, their family members and carers annually.

The Society also provides help, support and advice to patients and clinical staff at a number of low vision and hospital eye clinics across the county, a counselling service, coaching and training for those who come into contact with blind and visually impaired people; whilst providing opportunities to help and support some of our younger working age clients back into the work place. We also offer an advocacy service in partnership with Herts Help and support people in finding routes into employment or volunteering.
